Last evening we tried to see the northern lights again. This time the company’s approach seemed more serious and focused and it worked – we’ve spotted the lights after waiting for a bit in the cold. The view wasn’t that good because the sky was quite cloudy, but nevertheless I was very happy to see the phenomenon with my own eyes.
The night adventure was quite long so I had a hard time getting up in the morning (accumulated fatigue started getting to me as well). After showering and packing I went to breakfast and did the hotel checkout. I went for a stroll in the city. I accidentally stumbled into an art restoration workshop. After the intial awkwardness the man and woman working there became really nice and shown me some great works of art. The best one was a large painting of Reykjavik’s main street in the 1950s.Unfortunately I couldn’t take any pictures there because the art was privately owned.
After the stroll a girl I’ve met on Friday picked me up and took me to see some non-touristy stuff. We drove in her car while checking out Bjork’s house, a great lighthouse and some beautiful, not so touristic parts od Reykjavik. We also had coffe at a very nice place near the new university building.
The time to leave for the airplane came too soon. I got my suitcase from the hotel and got on the bus. I’m boarding the plane for Ljubljana in 5 minutes. This truly was a magical trip and I really want to come here again.
